Since 1998 we have been at the forefront of sustainable living initiatives, offering a range of resources, education, and services that support a healthier, more sustainable future for our community.

Our Sustainability Centre

The Waiheke Sustainability Centre has been home to the WRT offices, workshops and ecostore refillery since 2016. A hub for our community, it provides a unique and welcoming space that groups can hire to host events and connect with the Waiheke community.

Our Kai Conscious Café is taking a summer break,

Our Kai Conscious Café is taking a summer break, so don’t miss out on our last lunch of the year on Friday 8th December. As always, join us from 11AM if you’d like to get creative with our rescued food, or at 1PM for the community meal. Luckily, that won’t be your last chance to join us for some rescued kai. We have our end-of-year celebration on Friday 15th Dec from 5:30-9pm, which will take place instead of the usual community lunch. We’ll be celebrating 25 years as a Trust with music, acro-yoga, drinks and some yummy kai. You don’t want to miss it! And don’t forget to mark your calendar for the first Kai Conscious Café of 2024: Friday 12 January.

The Ecostore is not just a refillery! Take a look at our eco-friendly offerings: 🌿 Three types of composting systems, complete with subsidies and expert advice 🪱 'Hungry Worms' for top-notch organic waste management 🌱 Locally-made, nutrient-rich compost for thriving gardens 🚽 Biozyme products for a happy and healthy septic tank And that's not all! We also accept Ecostore bottle returns, offer subsidies for septic tank checks, along with plenty of tips and tricks to care for Waiheke's unique environment. Don't miss out on a great free talk this Friday! Hosted by Forest & Bird, Hauraki Islands Branch at the Sustainability Centre, Tom Kay will wrap up his talk tour about how rivers are affected by flooding and what this means for those in the floodzone. Plus, Nathalya, our Waiheke Wateryways project lead, will give an update on the eDNA results that have come back for Waiheke so far 💧🪰🐟🌿 And talk about how you can get involved in caring for your local awa! This is a unique opportunity to hear from a Freshwater Advocate, so come along this Friday, 8th Dec at 6:30pm.
