Let’s share the magic of what localized community composting solutions can do and are doing across our region! Invite your composters, your non composters, your Local Board, your Council connections, your local food businesses, your neighbours, and your friends.
Ben and Happen Films filmmakers will be zooming in for Q&A after the film, and a special guest panel will feature local composting heroes and special guests!!
Composting food scraps may seem like a small and simple act, but it’s one of many crucial solutions to addressing climate change, reducing waste, and creating a regenerative food system. In this film, we get to know Ben – compost nerd, compost educator, instigator of his local Compost Club, and creator of bEartha, the machine that’s about to revolutionize regional composting.
The story follows the highs and lows as Ben and his team develop and install a composting machine that they hope will provide a replicable model for communities all over the world. Woven throughout this journey is the story of the CompostClub, a small-scale, volunteer-based composting initiative.
“I didn’t expect to be so engaged by a film about compost but the passion and commitment of those involved make it so compelling.”– Libbie M., film premiere attendee
“There’s 20,000 houses in Nelson. My ambition was to do it all….It’s not being done, it’s not on anyone’s radar. I was like, ‘Fine, I’ll do it’.” – Ben Bushell in Ben & bEartha
