Become a zero waste hero, minimising as much as possible by reducing, reusing and recycling materials instead of sending them to landfill whilst getting paid to have fun at all the best summer events!

About the role:

Manage on-the-ground operations and supervise the event-based Waste Educator team for the Waiheke Resources Trust (WRT)’s Zero Waste Events social enterprise, including event services implementation and waste management, under the guidance of the WasteWise Coordinator. This position requires approximately 90% field work and 10% admin work, with typically a Friday to Sunday work week from December through to May- the event season. These events will vary in size and length therefore work hours will also vary.

Role description:
  • Lead contractors and volunteers to successfully provide Zero Waste services at events, including but not limited to setup and tear down of equipment and resources, waste sorting, volunteer and contractor supervision, and public education.
  • Before event liaise with WasteWise Coordinator and Event Organisers and understand the needs of the event in terms of equipment, waste station placement and waste management.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the ZWPA program.
  • Maintain PRC-owned equipment and resources for use at client locations.
  • familiarise and adhere to WRT H&S policies and systems through PeopleSafe app and communicate those effectively to volunteers.

  • Experience in managing a team of volunteers or coworkers
  • Flair for connecting with people from all types of backgrounds
  • Event management experience

  • Willingness to learn and share skills
  • Role is located on Waiheke so you must be willing to commute for this job if not already located on Waiheke

Love the beach and want to make a positive change? Join our team and help keep Waiheke beautiful by providing information to beach goers and getting them involved in beach cleans to encourage recycling, reduce littering and overflowing bins on Waiheke beaches.

Role description:
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the BA program.
  • Encourage and enable responsible dog ownership
  • Discourage feeding of birds near waterways
  • Encourage use of the BBQ Bucket
  • Monitor litter bins, prevent littering by encouraging recycling, packing-in and out
  • Check toilet cleanliness and request additional cleaning if necessary
  • Uniform provided
  • Full H&S training and an induction programme to fully support you in this role.
  • Hours: Weekdays (mon-fri) 1-5pm and weekends and public holidays (11-6pm)
