We are here to help you get on your bike…
Bike Hub Waiheke is a community-driven, not-for-profit, do-it-yourself-with-help bicycle workshop and a hub for the cycling community. We aim to empower people, encourage skill sharing and promote cycling as an affordable, social form of transport that is good for the environment and part of a healthy lifestyle.
Where to find us
Come visit us from Thursday to Sunday 12 – 4pm at 1A Mako Street. We’re in the blue and green container next to Waiheke Sustainability Centre.
What we do
We provide free access to tools and advice on basic bike maintenance including repair workshops. We sell used and new bike parts and give safe cycling guidance.
How we operate
We are community based organisation and our staff are assisted by enthusiastic volunteers. We appriciate koha (donation) for our work.
Our history
Bikebox was established in 2021 by Cycle Action Waiheke with support from the Waiheke Local Board and hosted by the Waiheke Resource Trust. It was all made possible because of the donation of a beautifully wrapped container by Mainfreight. Since 2023, the Bikebox is now the Waiheke Bike Hub and part of the wider Auckland Transport Bike Hub network. With AT’s support we have been able to open 4 days a week and make connections across the region to help train our staff and extend the services of our hub.
Get involved
We welcome volunteers who are interested in bike maintenance and helping out in the community. Any skill level is welcome and any amount of time you have to give, our bike mechanics love sharing knowledge and learning from each other.
