We are passionate about our everyday life being nourishing and sustainable

We are committed to promote community health and sustainability through our food rescue, gardening, and composting initiatives. We work to rescue edible food that would otherwise go to waste and redistribute it to those in need. We also support community gardening projects to help people access fresh, healthy produce and learn about sustainable agriculture practices. Our composting initiative aims to reduce organic waste and create nutrient-rich soil for gardening and agriculture.

Kai Gardens

Our garden, along with a greenhouse, cultivates seasonal vegetables under the guidance of an expert gardener. We conduct workshops for gardeners of all skill levels and offer support to anyone enthusiastic about growing their own food.

Waiheke Food Map

The Waiheke Food Map has been created to display all surviving trees, foraging spots, food hubs and community gardens. By sharing locations and fruiting seasons, we hope that Waiheke residents and visitors make use of these amazing resources to boost food resilience on the motu.

Food
Kai Conscious (Food Rescue)

Kai Conscious seeks to bridge the gap between food waste and hunger. We rescue food that is good enough to eat but not good enough to sell, diverting it from landfill. The kai is redistributed throughout the week by our fabulous rescuers, or cooked up on a Friday with the community.

Nourish
Composting

We can help you get up and running with a composting system to suit your household. Whether you are a keen gardener or not, there is a system for everyone. We also collect food waste from local establishments and create ‘black gold’ compost for the community.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
