WRT seeks to provide guidance and support for every step of the journey towards a resourceful future for all

To achieve our vision, WRT provides services and subsidies for sustainable actions like active transport, waste minimisation, and environmental restoration.

We offer hands-on experiences with our skilled team and support the Waiheke community in climate action through accessible products, services, and advice. This includes our Ecostore refillery and organising Zero Waste events. Our Centre, equipped with video conferencing, kitchen and solar-power serves as a hub for our products and expertise, as well as being available for hire to our community for events and workshops.

We’re committed to engaging our community for positive change. Discover our offerings and how to get involved below.

Zero waste events
ZERO WASTE EVENTS

A Towards Zero Waste Event values the waste hierarchy in relation to supporting events to lower their waste generation.

This is done through prioritising prevention of waste by choosing reusable products where possible over single-use and saying no to wasteful items at the planning stage.

Septic tank

Subsidised checks are available to residents insland-wide. They can be used to show compliance under the Auckland Unitary Plan.

Shop

Our Ecostore refillery offers you to refill essential items without purchasing another plastic bottle. We also offer composts, compost worms, compost bins and septic care products for sale.

Save your wine bottle caps.
Caps for cash

We have partnered with Island Waste Collective to collect the island’s aluminium wine bottle caps, sell them to a metal scrap dealer so they can be recycled, and make sure that 100% of the proceeds reach Jassy Dean Trust.

This initiative empowers everyone in the community to support Jassy Dean Trust by collecting their wine bottle caps and taking them to 6 Tahi Rd. Whether you’re a restaurant that serves wine, a group of friends having a party, a winery, or whānau who save your bottle caps and drop them off once a year, you can contribute to this project!
